El New Statesman del 12 de maig del 2003, a la pàgina 12, publica un article de J. Pilger així com una nota sobre l'autor que vull reproduir aquí, perquè són unes ratlles que valen per 1000 imatges:
The New Statesman's John Pilger has been named the winner of one o the world's most distinguished environmental and development prizes.
The Sophie Prize was established in 1997 in Oslo and is awarded to "individuals or an organisation that, in a pioneering and particularly creative way, has pointed to alternatives to the present development system". John Pilger, says the chair of the Sophie Foundation, Elin Enge, "has , in his documentaries, articles and books and through his integrity, thoroughness and courage, strengthned democracy and human dignity. He has managed to engage the public -moraly and politicaly - for the protection of the powerless".
The prize will be presented next month in oslo by the Norwegian minister of the environment. (JP 12 05 2003)

Per articles com aquest, per aquest estil i pel seu exemple, és la raó per la qual John Pilger és un dels meus herois vius mites referents per sempre.
Suposo que ja ho he dit en algun lloc però aquí ho repeteixo i ben fort. Estic convençut que la professió periodística arreu del món canviarà quan tota la obra de John Pilger sigui de lectura obligatòria per a tots els aspirants a periodistes. I potser el món anirà molt millor que no pas ara. Amen.
